Quote from dawesdust_12 :I dunno. Portal 2 seems "right" to be the length it is. It's not too long where it's drawn out, but it's not like "Oh, there's my second portal fired.. what end of game?!". Its a good pace

Great

So how long did it take for most people to get through it?

Quote from Klutch :So sick of how the Melbourne Shuffle got so mainstream...every hipster faggot now thinks they're awesome for doing it.

Like it wasn't bad enough when all the 13yo teenies started making "Shuffle crews"

Well I never heard of the Perth Shuffle... why don't you get your own dance moves?

Passionfruit scene made in Maya and rendered in Mental Ray.

Will probably make some final tweaks still.

Birds of Prey would fit under that heading- though I'm not sure as a few of the sim elements were stripped out if I remember right- not sure which ones.

Market focus and technical considerations are probably the main reason you don't see more flight sims on the consoles, but there's probably nothing stopping developers from creating 'sim-light' flight sims anytime. It's probably more a market consideration than anything. Faced with Hawk X and DCS: A10C Warthog on the shelf at the local gaming store, I imagine most would go for Hawk X.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more console sims. Birds of Prey became a great PC WWII sim in Wings of Prey- so there are potential benefits to the sim community as a whole.

Impossible Mission (Old C64 Title)

Haha- I had a game of this the other night. Still never finished it- although I've seen someone finish it... so no, not impossible.

Samsung UE40C6510 LED TV

My first ever bought TV! Great images, though I've quickly discovered, not perfect, since it suffers from 'clouding' and 'flashlighting' when presenting a dark image in a dark room. I thought LCD's were beyond this kind of thing by now...

Quote from Boris Lozac :lol No seriously, does anyone have one of these things and can i use it for dust?

A friend of mine actually had her whole house burned down after an electrical fire caused by her portable vacuum cleaner (it was plugged into the charger at the time). I forget what model it was now!

One of the better of the first vids on release.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... re=player_embedded#at=171

Many are having poor performance issues, and apparently the sound is a bit pants in some views (can't tell here because no speakers on the computer I'm on).

edit: and another showing some combat...

The sound of about 5 different dance clubs meshing together about a block away from my new place.

It's not old, but it's surely addictive (especially if you've got someone to beat- if you make over 2000 you're doing pretty well)...

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Well, When I get home I'll probably buy one off EBay. Saitek X52 or whatever.

Another recommendation for the Thrustmaster T16000M. If that's what E.Reiljans meant. Haven't come across an F16000 yet.

Quote from dadge :pioneer have released a tidy pair of monitors. £500 though which is super steep.

We bought the cm1's for 1250 US, around about 750 pounds. Bloody expensive yes, but it has to be said- these are really beautiful sounding speakers. During audition, I walked into the listening room and some music was playing, the cm1's were set up with another pair of massive floorstanders next to them. The sound was so full that I actually mistook the sound as coming from the floorstanders... it was coming from the cm1s.

This new system is a bit of an upgrade from our old one, which we recently had to sell off quickly. When we're feeling brave again- we'll add a sub. But the cm1s really kick out a fair bit of bass for their size.

Quote from JohnPenn :dissonant and wonderful enjoyed it

Cheers John-

Couldn't find a proper recording of the Concierto de Estio on Youtube, but I thought I'd link to this live captured performance anyway as I really enjoy it as well. Some time I'll upload the version I have here at home, which comes from this collection

Might be nice if they could implement something like the control system used for combat in Mount & Blade (here, eg). Simply being able to use magic in one hand and a weapon in the other doesn't sound enticing enough by itself as an evolution in combat. They really need to make things feel different in a number of key areas otherwise I can imagine that a lot of the people who have already put way too much time into the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games may lose interest fairly quickly.

Quote from Dajmin :They're building for the market though, aren't they? It's far harder and more risky to pirate console games than PC games, so they lose far less sales by focusing on the console gamers. They risk having their accounts banned - in some cases the console itself perma-banned - as well as the normal risks.

The only reason I stopped playing games on PC is because my rig won't run most newer stuff. I still get Source games. And especially for online stuff, frame rate is god so someone with a better machine can beat you just because of their spec. That can't happen on consoles because they're all the same.

It's a real shame that developers seem to be neglecting PC gamers, but I can understand why they do.

Yep, totally. I don't blame the developers, and I admit that consoles have been great for the industry in general, not to mention the benefits to players in having that massively extended audience, the library of great console games which have made it over to PC, etc- but at the same time I don't feel the need to go out and buy a console just because a large percentage of stuff is being produced for that market. I'm just happy when the market that I represent (by accident of having a PC and not a console) is catered for. It's also nice when a console developed title actually goes some way towards adding PC specific features when ported to PC. I'm sure something must exist in reverse where some PC developed titles are made more console friendly when ported to those platforms. That Rage is being produced for the smart phone market as well as for the cutting edge PC market, is very cool, imo.

Quote from Boris Lozac :@ Electrik

I stopped playing on PC a while ago..

Yeah- I'm not trying to sound snobby or anything, it's just that I don't own a console and playing console oriented games on PC sometimes doesn't translate so well, BC2 being a good example imo.
